SCHOOL PERFORMING SPACES   The proposal was for a performing art department for a sixth form school providing an opportunity to explore music as a key medium to convey education. The scheme, falling within the BSF programme, aimed to create learning environments that inspire pupils, unlock hidden talents and push them to reach their full potential.

The programme was split between 3 new volumes with space in-between wrapped by a lightweight structure that accommodates both circulation and sheltered breakout areas whilst dealing with the thermal and acoustic conditions within the building. The proposed architectural intent was to help put performing art at the heart of the new sixth form's curriculum and enable the creation of connections between the various academic disciplines in order to enhance creativity and learning.

Dealing with the site conditions on a very busy road, and sandwiched between a residential area and the high-rise commercial city centre, the proposed masterplan aimed to decentralise the school campus creating a perimeter frontage and bringing the school closer to the community.
